I’m jealous of kids nowadays growing up with pictures of their childhood and families taken by digital cameras with great definition. The pictures my parents took when I was an adorable kid (sigh, those were the days) were fuzzy at best, and you have to look past the blurriness to really enjoy the photo. However, on second thought, maybe acid-washed onesies are better left as a hazy memory…

Whatever the case, photographs and family go hand-in-hand. They’re snapshots of memories and times gone by, and provide more insight and feeling than words alone. Adding a personal photograph to your shirt is a great way to give your artwork emotion and make it uniquely yours.

We love it when we see customers use photographs in their designs. We can even help you use “pre-digital” photos in your design by taking an old, damaged, or low resolution photo and turning it into something fresh and amazing. When it comes to photos (photos iron on transfers), you can incorporate them in one of three ways.

Each month I help organize an art display in our café here at the office.  This month Jack Lee, one of our Iron On Sticker Production Artists, has shared his representations of iconic figures in not so iconic mediums.   Jack has taken his love of sports and art and combined them into something truly mesmerizing.

Here you can see his re-creation of Cal Ripken in thumbtacks, my personal favorite.  This piece took 30 hours and over 10,000 thumbtacks – no really, it did! Just watch him making it in this video. He also created a piece honoring our hometown football team out of cut up football trading cards, and he is getting the whole office involved in creating Mr. Chuck Norris out of fruit stickers!

As you can tell from the video, Jack loves the process of creating his pieces, but he also spends his time working on strategies and tactics for the world of fantasy sports as one of the contributors to Fantasy Smack Talk. Just so you don’t think he spends all his time on art and smack talk, I included a picture of him hard at work at his desk!
